Welcome to the Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA) - your link to information about transportation throughout Sonoma County. The SCTA acts as the countywide planning and programming agency for transportation related issues: securing funds, project oversight and long term planning.

What is the SCTA?

The Sonoma County Transportation Authority, SCTA, was formed as a result of legislation passed in 1990. The SCTA serves as the coordinating and advocacy agency for transportation funding for Sonoma County. The SCTA is governed by a twelve member Board of Directors. Nine of these members are chosen from the Councils of the nine incorporated cities or towns, and three are chosen from the County Board of Supervisors. The Authority holds public meetings on the second Monday (except holidays) of each month at the Sonoma County Planning Commission hearing room in Santa Rosa.

We do so by prioritizing, coordinating, and maximizing the funding available to us and providing comprehensive, county-wide planning. Our deliberations and decisions recognize the diverse needs within our county and the environmental and economic aspects of transportation planning."

Regional Climate Protection Authority

The Regional Climate Protection Authority, RCPA, was created by Assembly Bill 881 in 2009 at the request of Sonoma County elected officials seeking a coordinated approach to address the pressing issue of climate change. The RCPA is structured to improve communication and coordination on climate change issues and establish a clearinghouse for planning, funding and implementation efforts to reduce GHG emissions. The RCPA is made up of the same Board of Directors as the SCTA and includes representatives from each of the nine cities in Sonoma County and the Board of
